Ingrid Vandenhoudt graduated in sociology at the University of Antwerp in 1976 and was trained as a pedagogical advisor. From 1985 onwards she worked for the Flemish Regional Government in a number of different departments promoting SME activities in Flanders.
In 2001 she moved to the department for design promotion, where she organised a series of workshops on design management for managers of producing companies. In 2002 she organised the first international workshop on design management ‘Design makes the difference’ as part of the European Design Forum project (Culture 2000), with lecturers from Finland, Italy, Germany, Scotland and Belgium.
Since 2004 she has been involved and active in several international organisations and European projects including: Design Management Institute (International and European), International Research Meetings (coordinator Design Council UK), ConCreaS (ESF project), Composites on tour 1 and 2, SEE project 1 and 2 (Sharing Experience of Design Support - Interreg III C project), Design Your Profit (Poland), DME Award, BIO 19 (Biennale of Industrial Design in Ljubljana).
From 2012 till 2014 she was an active board member (secretary and responsible for the working group membership) at BEDA (Bureau of European Design Associations).
In December 2013 she started her company WOODT giving strategic advice to design companies.
