Overview

Now in its fourth year, the Global Lab Gathering is an annual event that brings together the growing international network of innovation labs, units, offices and teams working inside and alongside Government on society’s biggest challenges.

Host organisations

Hosted by Nesta – in association with Bloomberg Philanthropies and with the support of our international partners The GovLab, MindLab and MaRS Solutions Lab – the gathering brings together the growing international network of labs, units and i-teams driving innovation forward in public services worldwide.

Labs are widely acknowledged to be producing some fascinating results and promising ideas, but:

  • What is the evidence so far for innovation labs’ success?
  • What do we know about how they work?
  • How can their successes be repeated at scale?

Designed to bring together over 250 leading practitioners, policy makers and researchers in public sector innovation worldwide, the core aim of the gathering will be to inspire in each other a new sense of what is possible in public service innovation.

We want LabWorks itself to act as an innovation lab – blending our existing networks and knowledge of public innovation with external inspiration and challenge, testing our assumptions and generating new ideas in the process.

The focus is ultimately practical – if you are working in a public innovation lab or about to set one up then you or your team should not miss this unique opportunity to build your networks and your knowledge.
